The DUI Leviathon
DUI laws have been around since the turn of the last century. The possible fines and penalties were large right from the beginning. Leaving plenty of leeway for abusive enforcement and eventual corruption.
Candace Lightner is the MADD mother. After the death of her daughter, she went after California Governor Jerry Daily. He had connections with President Reagan whose wife Nancy was just beginning the “Say No To Drugs” national campaign.
DUI was quickly built into a national platform which was pushed on to all of the states of the Union. They were all required to adopt incredibly punitive laws and fines in order to keep from being denied State highway funds. Time after time, on into the future, this is how the Fed gets things done.
Favors were called in and major industries came flocking in to back the new MADD movement. That was the beginning of the DUI monolithic, mega industry! Just one year later, the OG mother, Candace Lightner stepped away from her organization. She no longer wanted to have anything to do with how it was unfolding.
As we have come to see throughout, politics, big business and law – when power and big money comes into play, corruption comes right along after it. Always – like some huge sucking vacuum. So shameful that this seems to be the way of humanity. But it is what it is.
Cut to the present day. The DUI Juggernaut has marched on unabated. Few dare to stand up against it or even talk about it for fear of retribution from almost all of humanity. Big Brother’s propaganda machine has been rolling right along with such ridiculous catch phrases as, “You’re buzzed – you’re busted.”
Fear-mongering is something that has become all too familiar to those of us who pay attention. Big brother has been using these techniques in many areas of modern-day life to strike fear into the hearts of the minions in order to further numerous different agendas. Shall we say, never ending agendas? Unfortunately, these techniques seem to be quite effective among populations that unfortunately, seem to possess high levels of cowardice at the very least. Furthermore can we state high levels of indifference. Many people not caring about much of anything, most of the time!
So the DUI juggernaut has marched right along through the decades. All of the lawmakers who have been swept up in it have continued to strengthen the laws, increase the punishments and beat down any pushback wherever it may occur. In the courtroom, the prosecuting attorneys have been provided with every dandy little trick that has been learned through the years that will give them the advantage over the unenlightened ones who stand before them.
Nowadays there’s much discussion on this topic referred to as “cancel culture.” You do or say anything that does not conform with the current narrative and you are out of here. Those who are in charge of the given narrative along with their sycophants want to eliminate you. This is often done with some kind of incredible quasi religious ferocity. Tolerance seems to be becoming a thing of the past. Over enforcement of these DUI laws may very well be a strong precursor to the current PC, cancel culture we are seeing today.
It is hard to say all of the reasons behind this draconian, crime and punishment ethos that seems to be washing over those who hold power in this country. The United States of America jails more of its own citizens than any other country in the world, by far. And why is that? And we call this the land of the free. Imagine how this looks to the other countries of the world!
There’s something going on out there. Something that would be quite familiar to some of us out on the press floor who have been through the military. There’s something called – “punish the masses for the sins of the few.” Never worked well in the military. And certainly is not working well for the people of America who are subjected to this kind of knee-jerk enforcement by their own government.
There comes the point where the original objective of the missio becomes clouded by all of the madness surrounding. Once upon a time there was a gallant effort to save the lives of innocent children from dangerous, drunken, addicted losers who get behind the wheel and lose all control.
How many of these types are being headed off before they commit homicide. Well now, that is a tough one to answer. But what statistics will definitely show us is that there are millions of citizens who are being severely punished as if they are these types. Thinking people know this is not right. The streets of America are not filled with this kind of lunacy, never have been. The majority who are prosecuted have always driven safely and always will. Those who are truly criminal behind the wheel are among the few and far between. Yet we punish the masses.
Where do we go from here?
